We offer wide range of sensors. See the list below of our standard sensors.
Need a custom sensor? Please contact us, we can help you.
UPT_OS1: Optical (Photo Transistor) Sensor
UPT_OS1 is a simple photo-interrupter designed to detect existence/absence of an object. The sensor requires an off the shelf RED laser pointer.
To operate it, point the laser light at the side of the sensor (there is a small opening on the side). The timer triggers whenever the beam is interrupted.
Note: Laser pointer is not included.
UPT_MIC1: Standard Sensitivity Microphone
UPT_MIC1 is a standard sensitivity microphone that plugs into the timer. Trigger the timer with loud sounds. The microphone would be used for capturing popping balloons, impacts of used with ballistics.
UPT_MIC2: High Sensitivity Microphone
Enhance the sound triggering sensitivity of the timer with this high sensitivity microphone. The high sensitivity microphone provides approximately 20db boost over the standard sensitivity microphone.
The microphone is approximately 1.8" x 1" in size with 6ft cable. The microphone connects directly to the timer. It is powered from the timer and does not need any batteries.
The microphone contains a 1/4-20 threaded fitting so that you can mount it on your camera tripod.
UPT_PIR1: Passive Infrared (PIR) Motion Sensor
Expand timer triggering options with passive infrared motion sensor. This type of sensor is commonly used in home security alarms and is activated by movement of a person or an animal.
The sensor is approximately 2.4" x 1.8" in size and contains a 6ft cable. The sensor connects directly to the timer using one of the external sensor inputs. The sensor is powered directly from the timer and does not need any batteries.
The sensor may require 1 minute stabilization after powering up. The maximum range is 20 feet (wide angle). The sensor is not suitable for fast moving objects. It re-triggers automatically every few seconds if motion continues to occur.
The sensor contains a 1/4-20 threaded fitting so that you can mount it on your camera tripod.
UPT_OS3A/B: Infrared Beam Sensor
UPT_OS3A/B is an infra-red sensor that can detect presence of objects up to 5m away (the optimal range is from 1 to 3m). The beam width is approximately 1-3 cm wide. It is capable of sensing small (few cm) or large objects. The sensor takes an average of 20ms for it to perform a scan.
Connect the sensor the Universal Photo Timer or to a Pocket Wizard. Since it does not require a reflector to operate it gives you a great amount of freedom on how you position it.
You can use the sensor to capture wildlife, sport events or social events. For example capture a bird as it lands on a bird feeder. Capture runners as they cross the finish line. Capture guests entering a wedding reception or a party. All this can be done unattended.
The sensor operates in stand alone mode as well as together with the timer:
When used stand alone, you can use a Pocket Wizard device (such as Plus II) to activate remote cameras or flashes in response to the sensor trigger. You can also use a camera motor drive cable directly with the sensor. The sensor has a 3.5mm jack on its side for cable connections.
When used with the timer, you can create repeated exposures, control dead time and exposure delay. The timer can trigger a camera or a flash. You sensor interfaces to the timer with the supplied 3.5mm to 2.5mm connector cable.
You can connect up to two sensors to the timer and use them in a cross beam configuration. The timer will activate your camera when an object is placed in the location where the two beams intersect.
The sensor contains a 1/4-20 threaded fitting so that you can mount it on your camera tripod.
The sensor requires a 9V battery (not included).
Tripod is not included. Pocket Wizard devices and motor drive cables are not included.
UPT_OS4: Retro-Reflective Sensor
UPT_OS4 is a retro-reflective sensor with an impressive range of 30ft (10m). The sensor is based on Omron E3G sensor, see http://www.omron-ap.com/product_info/E3G/index.asp
The timer triggers whenever the beam between the transmitter and the mirror is interrupted.
The sensor has a very quick reaction time of 1ms. It is powered from a wall mount transformer (international wall mount adapter is provided). Connect the sensor the Universal Photo Timer or to a Pocket Wizard transceiver (such as Plus II). The sensor comes with 1/4-20 threaded fitting so that you can mount it on a tripod.
